Community of Sant’Egidio

The community of Sant’Egidio was always involved in helping homeless people and recently involved with Mediterranean Hope in organising and welcoming refugees coming through Humanitarian Corridors, and agreement between them and the government and NGOs to relocate the syrian refugees fled to Lebanon. Oxfam Italia

It is present in Tuscany,  receiving 239 asylum seekers in the provinces of Arezzo, Florence, Livorno and Siena. Since 2015 Oxfam works in eastern Sicily in partnership with local partners and organizations to strengthen the capabilities of migrant emergency response; support refugees hosted in Catania, Milazzo, Scicli and Syracuse in legal, psychological and health care activities.

Cultural language mediation – to the acquisition of a knowledge of the Italian language, customs and laws that guarantee its autonomy. 

Vocational training – with professional training courses and support for volunteering in the workplace. 

Monitoring, research and evaluation – with data collection to improve the quality of our services.
