The American school system

Pre to Primary School
The education of the child in the USA usually carries on from the age of 5 to 6 years. The pre-school is known as Kindergarten schools.

Primary education for the students generally starts at the age of 6 to 7 years. This stage is also known as Elementary School. And in many areas provided free of cost by the government. The Elementary school starts or begins from the first grade to the fifth grade.
Secondary school also belongs to Middle School or Junior High school. Middle High School usually begins from the age of eleven to twelve years and lasts for three years. Middle School starts from the sixth grade to the eighth grade. This type of Secondary School education is also free of charge in the United States.
High School or Senior High School
High School is the most necessary part of education. It decides phase for a student to choose the career they want. The high school usually starts at the age of fourteen or fifteen years and ends in around eighteen years. High schools allow students to choose their core subjects.
The senior high school here often belongs to graduation or college. This stage makes students study, their respective subjects in colleges or universities. And can also lead to masters.
School hours and terms
- The school starts in September and runs until May or June (nine months).
- Most of the schools use the two-semester system. September to December and spring January to May.
- Some schools follow the quarter system. It comprises three sessions. September to December, January to March and March to May or June.
The school day in elementary and high schools completed between 8 am to 3 pm. In high school, students take most of the 90-minute classes.
At the time of admission, your child should be free from a range of diseases.
The range of diseases includes :
- DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis or whooping cough).
- MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella or German measles).
The children must be well before starting school. The evidence of the appropriate inoculations should be in English. It should include exact dates and should submit in the school at the time admission.
